Embroidery project and other things

I started an embroidery! I don't really know why, I just think embroideries look cool. But I don't have an embroidery hoop, so I made my own makeshift piece of cardboard frame. It is not the greatest. I had the floss/thread from a long time ago when I used to make friendship bracelets a lot. Here is my progress so far:

It is difficult to do! My design isn't turning out the greatest. Actually, I don't really know how to embroider. I'm pretty much just guessing and going along with it. My design is based off a design I found here.

After seeing this post about light photography, I tried it quick one night. I don't have a good light or the right kind of flashlight to make it work very good, and the darkest place in my apartment gets lit up with the flashlight I was using, so my photo isn't dark enough. But it's still kind of cute!

My first days of classes went okay. I was supposed to buy some supplies for printmaking, but haven't had any time to go to the art store. I am going to be working a lot more this semester, which is good because I need the money.

Today I:
- Checked out people's winter hats. I think their choice of hat says a lot about their personality. I see plain ones, hand-knitted ones, ones that have ears like an animal, ones with reindeer on it, skater hats, furry hats, old-skool earmuffs (not really a hat), hats with logos, hats with holes...
- Watched a girl peel an orange on the bus.
- Stood underneath heat lights at the bus stop. I could see my breath, but it felt like I was standing with the sun shining down on me!

  1. I love the embroidered girl! I think it's really adorable.

and I also like how the picture turned out... since it was light enough to show you standing in the background, it kind of looks like the heart is coming out of your chest. it makes it very interesting! there's definitely more to think about than if it was just a heart.
