Silkscreen Print Sketches

I am taking printmaking this semester (relief & screenprinting). Today I started drawing out my very first 2-color silkscreen image. The assignment is to depict some sort of product... I chose sunglasses. Fashion sunglasses, in particular. I want to make this image that has these girls that are very glamorous and sexy, and mysterious behind their dark glasses. Here is my sketch so far:

These source images were my inspiration (taken from Elle, Vogue, etc.):

And here are some of my preliminary sketches:

I hope to put it on my screen in the next day or so, and start printing ASAP! I think I am going to make the color part red. So the sunglasses and lips will be bright red.

On another note, here is another crazy light photo I took!

And to top it all off, my relaxing and delicious breakfast from Saturday morning (hot Cream of Wheat and cocoa chai tea)!

That's all for now!

  1. your sketches look great! I can't wait to see the final product.

and I thought I was the only person in the world who eats cream of wheat... people are always looking at me crazy when I buy it or make a bowl of it!

  2. thanks!

haha, i know - cream of wheat seems so old skool! actually, i never even had it before until i met my boyfriend and he would always eat it!
    I think it's best with sugar...:D

Comments are delightful - thanks for taking the time to write!
