Since last August, I've been working very part-time for a company called Soulflower, which is an online clothing boutique that carries funky hippie and boho clothes. I've been doing graphics projects for them on the side, but have always been busy with theatre. The owners of Soulflower recently offered me a full-time job doing graphics work for them, and I jumped right on it! It is a great opportunity for me, and I feel like it is going to be a lot of fun, but still challenging. I'm excited to start!
Today I'm wearing a shirt from Soulflower: "Well behaved women seldom make history" (a quote by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich)
My mom always says, "The squeaky wheel gets the grease" and I feel like that is also good advice. My boyfriend always encourages me to stand up for myself and take charge of things that happen in my life, and be in control of my finances. I've always been a shy person, but I've learned over the years that people will respect you more if you voice your opinions and stand up for yourself. Nobody likes a pushover! (except maybe car salesmen...)
So, starting this new job, along with living alone for 2 months while Rob is doing an internship is going to force me to be confident, and stand independently. I know I can do it; I'm not worried. It will be another summer of growth, and growing and changing is good.
