I never wear high heels

I rarely wear high heels. I could say "never", but I do still own a pair or two of strappy medium-height heeled shoes. That I wear to weddings. Sometimes.

But even though I own very few and never wear them, high heels still look awesome. They go with anything. And they come in so many colors and patterns and styles.

So I can't say I don't like them. I like how they LOOK, i just hate how they FEEL.

Heels make almost any outfit look totally fabulous and chic. But heels are not warm or grippy. So it's risky wearing them in snow or cold.

If you're not used to walking in them, you can look like a fool tottering on heels. You can run, but not very fast and not very gracefully.

Personally, I stopped wearing heels when I realized they weren't doing me any favors. The places I would wear them and the people I was with while wearing them never seemed to care. I never got compliments, but spent evenings only thinking about how bad my feet hurt.

So I know I'm missing out on a huge arena of fashion. I could be tip-tapping around looking like the chic-est fashionista around. But for me, it's not worth the pain and the effort. Give me a pair of Docs or flat sneakers any day and I'm good!

  1. I kind of feel the same way! In addition, sometimes I don't like the loud noises they make when walking and I don't really like how they make me taller- makes me feel like a giant! I still like wearing them for special occasions, though!
Women in UB LOVE wearing high heels and they look REALLY good doing it, even in the dead of winter with icy walkways! And a lot of people get around by walking everywhere; I have no idea how they don't destroy their feet walking in those things so much!
